Church Donor Board Plate Counter
Enter the donor plates you have now, the plates you want to reserve for future gifts, and the rows and columns you are planning. The calculator shows whether the grid holds them. It counts slots only. Parish Recognition still needs a measured drawing of the wall, header and plate sizes before the Perpetual Church Donor Board is laid out.
Build your plan
Counts layout slots only. Plate dimensions, gaps, headers, attachment points and usable wall area need a measured drawing.
The decision behind a church volunteer recognition order
Volunteer appreciation, clergy service and a building dedication are separate messages. Ask the designated church contact to approve titles, dates and any quoted wording. A shared ministry plaque should be assigned to a display location, rather than accidentally counted as one gift for each member.
Keep with your brief: Ministry, approved title, dedication and display location.

Reserve space for the next campaign stage
Plan 30 current donor plates and 12 future positions in a layout with six rows and eight columns. The example counts positions; it does not establish a board size.
- Current donor plates
- 30
- Reserved future plates
- 12
- Planned rows
- 6
- Planned columns
- 8
Calculated example result
42 plates planned (30 current + 12 reserved). 48 layout slots. 6 unassigned slots remain. Physical dimensions and mounting require a measured layout.
Load these inputs in the tool aboveUnderstand what the result means
Needed slots = current plates + reserved plates; planned slots = rows × columns
The example needs 42 positions and provides 48 slots, leaving six unassigned. That does not mean 48 finished plates must be manufactured now. Agree separately whether future positions remain empty, contain blank inserts or receive another treatment in the initial design.
How would a capital campaign plan its donor board?
A capital campaign for a new fellowship hall has 38 families who agreed to be listed. The stewardship committee wants a Perpetual Church Donor Board with room for gifts over the next phase of the campaign. They reserve 22 more plates. That makes 60 slots needed. The chair enters six rows and ten columns, which gives 60 slots, exactly enough with no gaps. She decides to add one more row for future growth. Before ordering, she measures the wall in the hall entrance and sends Parish Recognition the measurements with the plate count.
Check these details before using the result
- Leaving no room for future gifts
- Reserve plates for gifts expected after the board goes up. A full board on dedication day leaves new donors nowhere to go.
- Counting anonymous gifts inconsistently
- Decide whether anonymous gifts get a plate reading Anonymous or no plate at all, then count them the same way.
- Skipping the wall measurement
- The calculator does not know your wall size. Measure the space, including any light switches or door frames nearby.

Church Service Plaque
Choose wording that reflects the recipient's actual role and the congregation's own language. A short dedication can name the service being honored, with any scripture reference kept separate from the personal message.

Pastor Appreciation Plaque
Decide whether the occasion is an anniversary, farewell or annual appreciation. Use the congregation's preferred title and a message from the people presenting the gift, rather than filling the plaque with formal duties.

Volunteer & Ministry Recognition Plaque
Be specific about the contribution, whether welcoming visitors, preparing meals or supporting a youth group. A meaningful ministry name and one sincere sentence are usually enough to make the recognition personal.

Should donor plates show the amount given?
Many churches avoid amounts and group donors by giving category or simply list names. Show only what each donor has agreed to display. The board can carry a title, project name and year without any figures.
How are new plates added after the dedication?
Hold on to the order reference and the signed-off layout. Send new names in the same style as the first plates, and the new plates are made to match. A trustee, volunteer or installer then fixes them into the reserved spaces.
Does the calculator account for a header panel?
No. It counts plate slots only. Mention the header, board title, scripture line or church seal when you send your wall measurements, since each one takes up space on the board that donor plates then cannot use.
Which buying guide should you read next?
All buying guidesFor worldwide Parish Recognition orders, schedule each congregation’s piece around its actual receiver and presentation role. A host church receiving the main gift does not confirm that visiting congregations’ dedications are ready. Track proof approval, receiving checks and presenter assignment separately, then use the rehearsal as a shared readiness checkpoint.
For worldwide Parish Recognition orders, compare the proposed relief, lettering and image treatment rather than choosing a church dedication plaque from the words cast or engraved alone. A dimensional emblem and a detailed flat inscription can serve different priorities. Ask for the actual face construction and a representative detail proof before approving either direction.
Separate pastoral appreciation, ordination anniversaries and shared congregation displays. Approve the names, titles and any scripture wording before splitting the order into receiving groups. A gift for one person and a permanent record for a congregation need different layouts and handoff plans.
For worldwide Parish Recognition orders, choose one joint congregation gift when the intended recipient should own one shared object. Choose separate dedications when different owners or destinations need their own pieces. Agree on ownership and the common message before turning the number of contributing congregations into a physical plaque count.
